I wrote this poem last week and was working on a poem for my Celebrate Recovery group when I decided to put them together to see if they fit. Please write me and tell me your thoughts. The first stanza is added.

1 PETER 1:13-16 Be Holy

(13) Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. (14) As obedient children do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. (15)But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; (16) for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

A Call To Holiness

As I think about my addictions today

There is a voice that tells me no way

I ask if I am ever going to be healed

I remember that in Christ I am sealed

Christ is my only hope and strength

As long as I do not keep Him at arms length

Gods Word inspires us to action

Without Christ we have no traction

So prepare your minds, be self controlled

Set your hope on Grace this we are told

It’s only God that gives us grace

And endurance to run this race

So as obedient children do not conform

To the evil desires that caused us storms

We no longer live a life of ignorance

In Christ we take a stand, we take a stance

To live the life that we are called

It’s Holiness that won’t get us stalled

We are called to be Holy in all we do

We submit our life to Christ for He is Holy too
