Tear Stained Shoes

I’ve got some regrets

Have made some mistakes

Been down a road

That does nothing but take

I’ve walked a few miles

In my tear stained shoes

With nothing but scars

My way I did loose

There’s wounds in my heart

Scars on my chest

I keep looking to God

To give me nothing but rest

It’s His grace He bestowed

His mercy I didn’t earn

I walk with Him now

It’s His presence I yearn

His peace He does give

My heart is now full

I feel the nudge from His Spirit

His love has a pull

In His ways that I walk

It’s His voice that I hear

Drawing me close

Drawing me near

On the Cross Christ took my place
He died for me so I could run this race
His blood was shed to set me free
From sin and death this is what I believe
It’s in His Word I believe is true
He’s calling out to you know who
So don’t delay to respond
It is you He’s calling on
It is grace He alone provides
His mercy says you don’t have to die
All alone and apart from God
Who alone knows your every flaw
Here’s the message I hope you hear
I hope it comes across loud and clear
Upon that Cross Christ took your place
He died for you to give you grace
His blood was shed to set you free
From sin and death so
forever with Him you will be

This is the finished poem from the previous version of Tear Stained Eyes that was posted.

One foot in front and one foot behind
I’m walking the fence going out of my mind
Limb by limb I climb up a tree
It’s out of the darkness that I try to see
But I’m blinded by pain and blinded by scars
It’s a stronghold that has me locked behind bars
I can’t seem to run and can’t seem to hide
I’ve got a fortress built with walls that are high
You want to get in and I try to get out
I have voices in my head that just scream and shout
I sit in the corner with tear stained eyes
Looking for an outcome that’s forward and wise
I hear a message about Christ that opens my ears
It’s His message of love that’s drawing me near
He draws me in close, He draws me from afar
He gives me hope by healing my scars
He gives me His mercy, He gives His grace
He gives me His strength to run in this race
He called me out of darkness and into the light
He encourages me to stand firm in this fight
By His own Word this war has been won
All because of Jesus, God’s only Son

I open my heart, my burdens I share
You really listen, You really care

I give you my best, I give you my all
You are there to pick me up when I fall

When I get scared and I’m really lost
You are the one there to help me count the cost

Who’ll be my friend, who’ll be my guide
You’ll be the one to never leave my side

Your Word I do read, I try to obey
I try to listen for Your voice everyday

You give me Your love, You me give Your grace
You know I need help to stand firm in this race

Your mercy I have, it’s not without armor I wear
You give me the courage to stand boldly without fear

I can stand in this battle, I can stand in this fight
It’s thru Your strength I stand, I trust in Your might

When I’m down in despair, I reach for Your hand
It’s in You Christ that I stand

Lord it’s to you my heart I give
Passion for You is how I want to live

You made a way to give grace a start
It’s Your grace that opened and changed my heart

Your mercy is what saved me from death
I’m grateful for each day You give me breath

It’s Your love that put Jesus on a cross
It’s Your plan to redeem and save the lost

You alone raised Jesus from the grave
For all who believe they will no longer be a slave

It is You who breaks my chains to sin
You left me a guide and He lives within

It’s Your Spirit that convicts me when I’m wrong
It’s Your Word that guides and makes me strong

Your wisdom is what I need to help me change
When I do it’s my life that gets rearranged

The gospel is what we’re called to share
Your Truth is how You show You care

Salvation comes only through Your Son
He is the Light and He is the only one

This is the season for thanks we do give
Because grace from our Savior we get to live
He set a path before us when He counted the cost
Christ made a way for the sinner when He died on the cross

This is the season for grace that we don’t spare
It gives way to love and show that we care
He set a path before us when He counted the cost
Christ made a way for the sinner when he died for the lost

This is the season our mercy we must show
It comes from the gifts of the Spirit that we give as we grow
Christ set a path before us when He counted the cost
He made a way for the sinner when He died on the cross

Christ showed us the way that we must live
It’s our words and actions that shows that He lives
Christ set a path before us when He counted the cost
He made a way for the sinner when He died for the lost

God has called us out of darkness
And living our life in sin
We are called to be a chosen people
It’s His righteousness that we live in

We are called to be a royal priesthood
A people belonging to God
To abstain from sinful desires
To not live in the flesh that’s flawed

We are called to be a holy nation
Not living like the world
We are called to live separate
Than the world that’s coming unfurled

We are God’s special possession
That we might declare praises of Him
Again He called us out of darkness
That we might bring glory to Him

Once we were not a people
But now we belong to God
We have now received Gods mercy
To refrain from living like we’re flawed

1 Peter 2:10
9. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Gods special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10. Once you were not a people, but you are the people of God; once you had not received Gods mercy, but you now have received mercy.
