As Believers

As believers we look for our Lord

To be with Him this is our reward

One day He will come gather His church

Then believers will no longer have to search

The Heavens for our Lord to come

On this certain day it will be sad for some

The Bible says the dead in Christ first rise

To be with the Lord this is their prize

Then next are believers that are alive

To reign with Christ this is why we strive

To be faithful in sharing the Good News

We can’t do this by sitting in our pews

We have to get out to be Christ’s feet and hands

To spread this message all across the land

The message we share is about Gods Love and Grace

How Christ came and died, on the third day was raised

Now Christ is seated in Heaven with God above

Waiting for the day to gather the church He Loves

Until then there is work for us to do

Spread the Gospel Message so the lost will only be few

There Will Be A Day

There will be a day when there is no more sin

Until that day Christ’s ways I must walk in

There will be a day when I’m no longer weak

Till that day my Saviors face I must seek

There will be a day when there’s no more pain

Until that day on the just and unjust it will rain

There will be a day when there’s no more worry

Until that day my burdens someone will help carry

There will be a day when there will be no more fear

Until that day Christ willl still draw me near

There will be a day when there will be no more tears

On that day everyone will see real clear

There will be a day when Christ will come

And on that day a trumpet will thrum

There will be a day when there will be peace

And on that day satans destruction will cease

There will be a day when I see Christ’s face

On that day it will be all because of Grace

Love Is Gods Command

What does it mean to be the keeper of my brother

Is it as simple as looking after each other

The Lord commands me to be my brothers keeper

This means to me, my love has to run much deeper

If my brother stumbles must I give him a hand

For to love one another this is what God commands

One thing I have to remember who am I to love first

First being God, for Him I hunger and I thirst

Loving others seems simple but it’s harder than it appears

To love one another I must not hide behind my fears

What do I have to fear is the question at hand

When all I have to remember is that God First Loved Man

This I Know

The Bible says my Lord will heal

That’s because in Christ I’m sealed

 

Sealed with His Spirit before He left

Now in Christ my soul and life are blessed

 

Healed from what this I ask

Spiritual death now I am free at last

 

Since He left where did He go

He ascended to Heaven that I know

 

Since He ascended why did He leave

To prepare a place for you and me

 

Now I’m free from the bondage of sin

My Lords ways I must walk in

Leading By Example

My daughter came to me tonight after church talking to me about what they were studying. The reason being my speech is not always what it should be. That’s just being honest folks. She read to me out of I TIMOTHY 4:12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.  She/they were learning about setting an example to believers and folks the example starts with us parents. And I have to admit that I’m not always the best example. But my daughter, Anna coming to me, talking to me is what inspired me to write this poem. Please feel free to comment.

Leading By Example

As believers how do we set an example with out tongue

We have to be careful as it can be a loaded gun

Is it important to watch what we say

Our desire should be not to push people away

Is it important to watch how we speak

Our tone can scare people who are bleak

We can take a pause before we cheek

To ask the Lord which words to speak

 

As believers how do we set an example with our life

By moving out of the darkness and into the light

Is it important for our motives to be pure

Pure motives can lead to right actions for sure

Is it important to watch how we live

Right choices is the example we want to give

We can take a pause before we make a choice

To take a little time to hear Gods voice

 

As believers how do we set an example in love

Being kind to others first without a push or a shove

Is it important to show that we care

By obeying Gods Word others burdens we must bear

Is it important how we treat each other

Treating others with love is a command from our Heavenly Father

We can take a pause before we act or you speak

It is always Gods Will that we want to seek

Strengthened By Chrst

Strengthened By Christ

Galatians 6:14  May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me and I to the world.

Ephesians 2:8-10 (8) For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, (9) not by works, so that no one can boast (10) For we are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

I was sitting here this morning trying to think of a poem to write when it dawned on me that it is the morning of my first wedding anniversary. My wife, Mary and I are fairly simple when it comes to special dates like this, plus we don’t have a lot of money to by gifts. So we settled down to a nice quite dinner together at one of our favorite restaurants this past weekend. God pulled a fast one, so to speak of, on me and decided for me what I was going to be doing on my wedding anniversary night, and come to think of it, it is a wonderful gift to give my wife. I get the Blessed opportunity to give my life’s testimony at a Celebrate Recovery meeting at the church I am a member of.

Both of these opportunities could of never happened if it weren’t for Gods grace. Why a Celebrate Recovery meeting, is because God delivered me out of a 30+ year addiction to drugs. Oh CR is not just for alcohol or drugs, we recover from life’s habits and hang ups like codependency, pornography, food issues, things that get in the way of our relationship with Jesus Christ. Why my testimony? To show other people who struggle that Christ is at work in my live, how He redeemed me, and to show how God has never left me. It is a message of Hope to others. Plus I recently celebrated one year of clean time off drugs, now I’m work to recover from food issues and codependency and other hang ups. Why do this on the night of my anniversary, 1 to obey God, 2 to share with my wife my recovery and to show my willingness and desire to share how Christ has not just changed me, how He has changed my heart and as He changed my heart my hearts desires are changing as well.

Philippians 4:13 says I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. None of this could or would be possible if it weren’t for Christ, the Cross, and His Resurrection. God did what no man could ever do and I believe He provided Grace. Christ being our grace, obeyed His father to death on the cross and was raised to life to be seated at the right hand of His father. Without the resurrection we would be just like any other religion in this world that has a dead god. Our God is not dead, He was raised and is alive today and is our every strength. When I put my dependence in Christ I am not only able to move mountains, He strengthens me to climb the mountains that He has me climb. I’ve been told and heard it said that what I’ve been called to by God, He has prepared the way in advance. All I have to do is have faith in Christ and put my trust in Him.

I want to dedicated this post to my wife Mary, how thankful I am that God has united us together and given us the strength and courage to never give up on each other. I LOVE YOU with all my heart.

By the Grace of God

The Bible says to confess your

sins and you will be healed

The only reason this can happen

is in Christ we are sealed

Christ sealed us with His Holy

Spirit

None of this happened by our

own merit

God sent His Son to die on a cross

Jesus obeyed His father to save

who’s lost

Why would God go and extend so

much grace

His love for man and to redeem the

human race

So don’t think Gods love we can earn

If it wasn’t for Grace my soul would

Burn

Trust Jesus Come What May

I am frustrated, distraught

My life I seem to plot

Which direction or path

It’s not calculus or math

I am confused and dismayed

It’s on Gods path I stayed

No matter how confused

With His Word I get infused

There is pain that causes strife

But I have Jesus in my life

When I don’t know where to go

I can trust Jesus, He will know

When I don’t know what to do

I know He will get me through

When I don’t know what to say

I still trust Jesus in every way

I am still frustrated and distraught

With a price my life He bought

So no matter what comes my way

It is God I trust and obey

Redeemed

All my life I seemed to have been lost

The heavy weight of my choices

Never counting the cost

Not thinking or penalties I had to pay

I was stuck in my choices

So there I would stay

My Savior has found me

Redeemed me at last

Given me new choices

Now I don’t live in the past

The old is gone in with the new

I still make bad choices

But try to limit them to few

Jesus is Savior, He is my Lord

I can find life’s answers all in the Sword

Secrets

What are secrets and what will the do

They are hidden stories, they kill and

destroy too

If I keep a secret, carry it under my hat

Is that so bad, what is wrong with that

They don’t just destroy, they hurt people

too

They break people’s trust, then I don’t

know what to do

Secrets are hidden lies that I try to cover

What’s so wrong with that, I always have

to tell another

To not keep any secrets, should I be open

as a book

Watch out for wrong motives, always

examine and take a look

Being transparent, open and honest as

can be

To carry around secrets is not the way

for me

So really, how do I not keep secrets around

Tell myself What Would Jesus Do and Trust

He is my Solid Ground
