Fear the Lord your God, serve him only
DEUTERONOMY 6:13

Fear the Lord your God, serve him only, does this really mean what it says? We live in a time and period where people have no respect of persons, places, things and authority let alone Fear God. We live in a world where everything is permissible. We live in a society where things are becoming permissible that are unbiblical and even are an abomination to God. We live in a world where sin is running rampant and is even believed to be ok. In a time like this how can we Fear God? What does it really mean?

What does fear mean? Now mind you I’m speaking from my humanness about fear, but I somehow believe in a Godly meaning, fear means so much more, a higher meaning if you will. When we think of fear we often think of being afraid or alarmed, or frightened. The fear this Scripture is speaking about I believe means to have a reverential awe of God. A profound adoring awed respect, to honor God. I could be wrong but I don’t think we are to be afraid of God in as much as we are to be afraid of GOD’S wrath, His judgement. I believe there is nothing wrong in having a healthy fear of God but God want us to honor, have reverence, stand in awe of Him FOR WHO HE IS.

Serve Him only means exactly what it says. In our time it is so easy to get lost in serving the things of this world. We serve our jobs, money, relationships, the list is endless. God is the only True God, let me clarify God is the one and only God! We are not to be confused with the temptations of this world
This is one of the Scriptures that Jesus quoted when being tempted by satan.

God wants to spend time with us, He wants us to spend time with Him. After all He pursued us first and He had His Son crucified, nailed to the cross for us to have life.

OH MY GOD

Oh my God, why must I slander you name
I do it for the price, to hide my shame

Oh my God, why must I enjoy my sin
There’s no pleasure in the bondage that I’m living in

Oh my God, why must I turn from you this day
I think I’m having fun, must I do things my way

Oh my God, why must I walk away from you
I think I know better with the things I’ve got to do

Oh my God, I must call out to you
I need Your help to stop the things I do

Oh my God, will you forgive me of my sin
It’s your Spirit that comes and lives within

Oh my God, will you come live in my heart
It’s your death on the cross that gives me a new start

Oh my God, will you be my guiding light
It’s because of You that my fire’s burning bright

Oh my Lord, how I believe in you today
It’s Your Word that helps me walk in your ways

Oh my Lord, it’s you that helps me not to stray
It’s Your Spirit that is my GUIDE today

His Grace That Saves

It’s Gods grace that gives us life and saves
All because Christ conquered the grave
He left His royalty to walk as a man
His message is repent and firmly stand
Stand firm in Gods Word and walk away from the flesh
To live in this world no longer to mesh

It’s Gods grace that saves us from a life of sin
He knocks at the door will you let Him come in
He wants to come in and change your heart
That’s been His plan right from the start
As he changes your heart give Him your fight
It’s Gods Spirit that is your guiding light

It’s Gods grace that saves us so we don’t have to die
We don’t live for this world and live out a lie
We can live out Gods Word and walk in His ways
Wearing His Armor we no longer have to stray
Stray from our Lord or stray from our God
Just walk in His ways and stand in His Awe

Because He Lives

We have hope because He lives
It was His life that He did give
He came to earth to walk as a man
This is God’s design, it is His plan
He lived and walked for 33 plus years
It’s His promise is to wipe away our tears
His message is to share the gospel
To an unholy world that is hostile
He took all our sins upon His back
He defeats satan in his attacks
It’s His message that we must repent
He forgives sin so we don’t have to lament
This is all true, this is no lie
Freedom from sin, we first have to die
Die to the flesh, die to my sin
Die to the mess that I seemed to get in
He is my shepherd, this is His way
As I stay on His path I will not stray
This is not my battle, this is His war
He stands and knocks, will you open the door

Lord, what I think about is you
How Your Word it carries me through
When I am falling down
A slave to sin I am bound
It’s Your Love on a cross
That saved me when I was lost
I am no longer a slave to sin
You broke the chains that I was in
You alone forgive
It’s Your ways I try to live
It is You who changed my heart
Then You gave me a brand new start
It is darkness I seem to fight
You alone are my guiding Light
Temptation will not leave me be
It is Your Word that sets me free

Arms Wide Open

With arms wide open,
I cry out to God
He loves me so
Even though I’m flawed
His love covers
Over all my sin
He guides me through,
The mess that I get in
His love for man
Put Christ on a cross
He died for all of us
He died to save who’s lost

With arms wide open
He calls out my name
As I walk with Him
He takes away my shame
As I follow Him
I walk in His ways
It is His Spirit
That helps me not to stray
With arms wide open
He calls out your name
If you don’t know Christ
There’s no time to delay

Why Do I Constrain God To A Box

Why do I constrain God to a box
Isn’t His Sovereignty what gets blocked
Thereby putting limits on His power
I often want help in less than an hour
When I put limits on our Holy God
It changes the focus in who gets awed
God is not designed to packed away
Then to be pulled out and put on display
God is not like any kind of idol
His Sovereignty can not be bridled
He is not made of wood, metal or gold
He is not like us humans that one day grow old
God is Holy for that He does say
It’s up to His children to follow His ways
When we follow His ways He remains to be God
And rightfully so He deserves to be Awed

Have You Seen the Fog Lift Clear

Have you ever seen the fog lift clear
Then the gaze of ones eyes turn bright
It’s hard not to shake our fear
That’s until we see the light
The Light is He who draws us near
He’s the One that helps us in this fight

In this fight do not struggle
Leave your struggle with the Lord
A worldly life we can not juggle
Life’s answers are in our Sword
In this life we Will struggle
So cast your burdens on the Lord

Father In Heaven

Father in heaven, You are my God
It’s You that I fear, how I stand in awe
Now I know that you pursued me first
Its your love that I hunger and thirst
When I think of how You nailed Your Son to a tree
I stand amazed that You would do this all for me
I surrender my life, put it all in Your hands
I can surrender it all because Jesus walked as a man
Right from the start this was Your master plan
We praise You Father because You redeemed man
