Thank You For Being My Friend

This Poem was written on June 18, 2021 and is the very first poem written to my wife. This poem is a tribute to the strength, peace and love that she exhibits thru her relationship with Christ. She has always been an example of doing the right thing even when I don’t want to. She has also been my rock in showing me what it means to trust and turn to Christ in the storms of life. Christ is finally my solid rock and Mary has shown me this. This is a tribute to my wife Mary.

Thank You for being a friend

In my mind we will never come to an end

We walk thru the valley together

With You there will always be a forever

 

Thank You for being a friend

Your love never comes to an end

You would give your life in place of mine

You walk thru pain and never whine

 

Thank You for being a friend

You stuck by me thru thick and thin

Your smile is as addictive as wine

Nothing ever dulls your shine

 

Thank You for being a friend

You’re a great example of not following the trend

You give and give but never seem to take

You’re a servant of Christ who is never ever fake

 

Thank You for being a friend

You’re an example of hope and that doesn’t end

I see the Spirit that lives in you

Your spirit is love and that shines thru

 

Thank You for being a friend

I know your love has no end

Your encouragement come from your heart

Your personality is as beautiful as art

 

Thank you for being a friend

You speak your mind and never pretend

You’re as strong as an ox that’s not beat by the plow

Thru a lot of pain you stuck with me somehow

 

Thank You for being a friend

You will die for your beliefs till the bitter end

I watched you grow and get closer to Christ

I also watched satan try to take you for a heist

 

Thank You for being a friend

You’ve been an example of being a friend

With that being said and all this being penned

From the bottom of my heart

Up Against A Wall

Up Against A Wall

When struggles arise where shall I turn

I lean on Gods Spirit or my desires will churn

It’s His Holy Spirit that is my defense

Whether up against a wall or backed into a fence

He is the strength that carries me thru

When my thoughts run rampant and are askew

He provides freedom from the bondage of sin

Thank God for His Spirit who now lives within

I’m now a disciple and try to follow Gods Word

It’s His message of grace, I hope you have heard

Jesus came from heaven to walk with mankind

He came to save souls and to leave no one behind

He walked as a man for three and a half years

To tell His message of grace for all that will hear

He was the ransom for sin and died on the cross

To save me and you and all who are lost

Now walk in the Spirit and walk in His ways

Stay on Gods path and try not to stray

Be the new creature that you have become

Watch your evil desires and do not succumb

Life following Jesus is better you see

Submit to God, resist the devil and he’ll flee

James 4:7

Submit yourselves to God, resist the devil and he’ll flee.

A Mountain Called Calvary

A Mountain Called Calvary

 

We know Jesus came from heaven for we’ll see Him face to face

It is His power that he gives us to run this very race

 

It’s all because of mercy, His grace He freely gives

It’s only thru the cross we learn how to live

 

His commands are a guiding force for us to obey

It is His path we walk and learn to not stray

 

His Truth is what frees us from our death and sin

His Spirit is who draws us then comes to live within

 

His grace He freely offers for all who want to partake

It is chains of unforgiveness that He wants to break

 

It’s our heart He wants to change from the inside out

It’s our faith wants to increase so we never have to doubt

 

Jesus is our teacher for He wants us to learn

That grace is a gift that we can never earn

 

Jesus paid the ransom by hanging on the tree

He hung on the mountain called Calvary

Love Came Down

Love came from heaven to walk the earth

It was all who’s lost He came to search

 

He was beaten bloody, bruised black and blue

Hung on the cross meant for me and you

 

It is His message that changes our heart

It is His Spirit that He imparts

 

It’s His grace that’s free for all

A response is needed with the call

 

A new creation is what we are

He set the standard, He raised the bar

 

Our walk with Christ is paramount

It is the cost that we must count

 

A humble heart is our goal

We belong now to God’s fold

 

It’s His grace we can’t earn

For this is the message we must learn

 

If you’re broken or lost or can’t find your way

Jesus is the answer for everyday

In My Brokenness

I know it’s You who can feel my pain

It’s in you alone that my life gains

I walk with You when life gets tough

Even tho my shell reveals I’m rough

In my brokenness when I am lost

I turn to Jesus and face the cross

You heal my heart from the scars

The battle wounds caused by wars

A struggle I have is in my mind

It tells me lies that has me blind

I try to walk down a narrow road

But all this crud has me slowed

I hear Your voice that draws me near

That gives me strength to persevere

When life is dark you are my Light

You are solid ground in this fight

It’s to You I come when I am broken

It is in You alone that I find hope in

In my brokenness I see your hand

That guides me in the Promise Land

Now I am saved from my evil ways

On Your path do not let me stay

I walk with You now that I am free

Thankful to Christ who died on that tree

The Cross That Was Meant For Me

Christ humbled Himself and became a man

He came with a message obeying God’s plan

He would bleed on the cross to save man’s soul

For this was said by the prophets of old

He came to die to set man free

On a cross that was meant for me

Death could not hold Him in the grave

It was for the lost and broken He came to save

He was raised to life on the third day

Ahead of us He prepared the way

He heals the sick, the lame and the lost

If you want to follow Jesus you must count the cost

He gave us His Spirit to be our guide

Our heart is where His Spirit resides

I used to be broken with a hole in my heart

Until I met Jesus, He gave me a new start

With Arms Stretched Wide

In brokenness that I can’t hide

It’s You Jesus that I confide

In my walk it’s Your strength I need

When I break Your heart, it’s Your blood I bleed

Higher than mine is Your ways

From Your Word I do not stray

In my weakness I need You

It’s Your Word that I hold on to

Faith through grace is what I need

On the Cross Christ did bleed

His blood is the sacrifice that atoned for sin

Will I call on Jesus with the mess I’m in

Jesus Christ is the only way

To see Holy God on that day

If you are in need of grace

Or strength to help you in this race

Call on Jesus , He’s our friend

He’ll walk with us till the end

He sent His Spirit to be our guide

He loves us all with arms stretched wide

On A Star Lit Night

It was is in the wee hours of a star lit night

Wise men were guided by a star so bright

They were following what the prophets foretold

Bringing with them myrrh, frankincense, and gold

They were gifts for the new born king

The child of which the angels did sing

Conceived by God’s Spirit not by a man

Born of a virgin for this was God’s plan

Sent from God this child sublime

Redemption came from this perfect paradigm

This child came with a message that He must tell

His message of redemption that saves us from hell

This message of redemption we all must hear

Oh Holy Spirit come open our ears

Open our hearts to receive God’s Word

The message of Christ is the message we heard

The Son of God is King at birth

His message is told throughout the earth

If you’re in need of hope on Christmas this year

It’s the message of Christ I pray that you hear

The Road To Redemption

I awoke one morning with pain in my heart

Trying to find words is a hard start

I describe the pain as one big hole

Empty was I with an ache in my soul

I describe the ache with one big sigh

Temptation set in and I wanted to get high

My mouth began to water, I got a taste in my mouth

My mind began to wonder and my thoughts went south

I start thinking about back in the day

How I started using drugs and lost my own way

My soul became empty and broken was I

My thoughts were churning how I wanted to die

I needed a fix and I needed it right then

Broken was I and I thought it was the end

I rolled onto to the floor and on to my knees

I said a quick prayer, Lord will You please

I heard a soft voice whisper in my ear

Come to me child I’ll draw you near

That was the day my life began to change

I found a Savior in Christ who no longer was strange

I gave Him my life and submitted to His ways

With the strength of His Spirit, I don’t have to stray

I call Him my friend, I call Him my Lord

I stay in His Word to sharpen my Sword

He led me with His Spirit and filled that hole

I am no longer empty I gave Him my soul

Lord I Will Not Be Shaken

Lord I will not be shaken

Even tho in my boots I am quaking

It is You that I find hope in

Even tho I am broken

Lord I will not be moved

Even tho satan is smooth

You are the rock in which I stand

As long as I reach up for Your hand

You will never lead me astray

For this Your Word does say

I will never have to worry or fear

Because You will draw me near

Your arms are always open wide

You said You’d never leave my side

The same Spirit that rose Christ from the grave

Is the same Spirit that leads me today

Lord you are my strength

As long as I don’t keep You at arms length

You are a promise from God

In You, forever I will be Awed
