From Alien To Citizen

Ephesians 2:19-22

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20. Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, 21. In whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into the holy temple in the Lord. 22. In him you are also are being built together in to a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

As I was listening again to the message from Sunday, 8/8/2021 I am being reminded how before I knew Christ as my personal Savior, I was an alien in this world without hope, meaning I was a sinner that was not yet saved by God’s grace alone. Listening this morning I am reminded that for people that are not citizens of the United States, there is a process that one can go through to become a citizen of America. Now I don’t profess to know what that’s like because I am a natural born citizen, but I expect there are classes you would have to go through to learn history, language amongst other things to become a citizen of the United States.

Well, if you are without Jesus and therefore without hope you are an alien and stranger to the family of God. What I mean by this is you are a sinner and therefore belong to this world. Well unlike the process of having to go through to become a citizen of some nation, there are no classes that one would have to go through to become citizens of God. All’s one would have to do is believe in the all sufficient, all saving name and the power of Jesus Christ.

Romans 10: 9-10 says, 9. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

That’s right all you have to do is believe in Jesus. You can’t earn it or do anything to get it, just believe and confess as Romans 10:9 says. Jesus did all the work, there’s no more sacrifices to be made no more priests having to atone for the sins of the people, Jesus literally went to the cross, took on his back all our sin and shame, basically accepting the wrath of God for us, me and you, so that we can be citizens in the family of God. We are co-heirs with Jesus, what a way to live.

All my life, because of my upbringing,  felt as though I never belonged to anything. I tired football, baseball, rodeo, work, you name it I tried any and everything to belong. I even thought for a long time that I’ve sinned too much, done to much damage to ever be able to have the grace of God. What God spoke to my heart is only Jesus can save me and that I need to confess my brokenness to Christ and believe in him to be saved. Today Jesus is my Savior and Lord base on what Jesus did on the cross and only what Jesus did, as again what Roman’s 10:9-10 says.

If you are without hope, and an alien in this world, and would like to be a citizen in the family of God, you would like to belong to something more loving and powerful that anything in this world, put your trust in Jesus Christ, who is all sufficient and all powerful to save, and you then will gain an inheritance that no one or nothing in all creation, this world can take away from you. I love you and hope you trust Jesus today.

In His Service

When I look in the mirror

Who do I see

Someone in a broken glass

Trying to be me

When I put on a front

I put on a mask

Who am I hiding from

Behind this broken glass

Masks are made

But should never be worn

I hide behind masks

So my heart is not torn

Then came You

Breaking my chains

You started with my heart

Then cleaned all my stains

I got rid of that ole mask

I have nothing to hide

Your Word’s in my heart

It’s in what I abide

Now when I look in a mirror

Who do I see

An image of Christ

Is what I’m trying to be

2 Corinthians 5:6-7

So we are alwaysof good courage. We know thatwhile we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith not by sight.

Walking By Faith

We walk by faith not by sight

We are called out of darkness, into His light

We have not a clue, God sees who we are

He knows that we’re evil, without a pure heart

To pray is the answer, asking for Salvation to come

Christ died on the cross, for all, not just some

He sent us His Spirit, to be our true guide

He will never leave us, He’s always by our side

To walk with Jesus is a blessing for sure

To believe in Jesus is sin’s only cure

Jesus is the answer to walking by faith

He is the answer, our penalty’s been waved

So to walk by faith, not by sight

Perseverance is the answer

To standing firm in this fight

Your Redemption Plan

Your Love walked the earth as man

To share the message of Your redemption plan

You put Your Love upon the cross

Your intention is to save who’s lost

Your Love is who defeated the grave

Because Your Love I know I’m saved

He rose to life after three days

The penalty for sin has been paid

You went to hell to free the slaves

From the prison of their graves

Inside our heart is where You live

Service to You is what we give

Your Word is what transforms my heart

It calms my storm and is where newness starts

Now I’m free to live for you

To trust Your Word through and through

Your Spirit is now my guide

From Your Truth I can no longer hide

I’m thankful for Your Redemption plan

For Your Love that died for man

Questions

When her love seems so far away

I remember who gave me this day

I know she doesn’t belong to me

It’s Your love that sets me free

How can You do this to her and me

Why do I have to think so selfishly

Why do you have to put her thru this pain

What’s the loss and what’s the gain

Is there a risk that we have to take

You know it’s fear that makes me shake

I try to put my trust in You

But I get depressed and it makes me blue

I try to show that I’m so tough

But my strength goes up with a puff

There are times she’s my inspiration

And there are times I’m lost in depression

When depressed I want to weep

Then at night I cry myself to sleep

It’s a fear that You’ll take her home

Then I’ll be lost and all alone

I never dreamt this will happen to my love

But I know Your Sovereign and seated above

It’s to You I’m crying out

I’m trusting You but help me where I doubt

You love her more than I ever could

But I’m learning to love her like I should

What are we to learn, how are we to live

What’s the message that we’re supposed to give

You have Your will, and nothing will thwart Your plan

Help me to be grounded in You and firmly stand

These are the questions that run thru my head

Please give us peace so fear will not be our dread

Today was hopeless

I knew that I was lost

I needed a Savior

The one that hung on the cross

It was on that tree

That I first saw Your grace

It was Your power, Your mercy

That let me enter this race

I will trust You and trust You

You will help me persevere

When times get tough

You will draw me near

It’s You love, yes Your love

That forgives all my sin

With arms stretched wide

Your Spirit lives with

Now I have hope

Because Your grace covers me

I’m thankful to God

That You died upon that tree

It was the grave

That couldn’t hold you down

When I feel weak

You put me on solid ground

It was Your love

That found me when I was lost

Now I’m have a home

Because You died upon that cross

Heaven’s My Home

My chains are heavy

They weigh me down

I can’t pick my feet up

From off the ground

I am in a prison

Behind steal bars

My heart is broken

All full of scars

This is a prison

In my mind

I found this out

For the very first time

During a time

When I was lost

When I was searching

I then found the cross

I heard the gospel

I heard it real clear

I heard Christ’ voice

He drew me in near

He changed my heart

From the inside out

He removed my fears

He cast my doubt

I now bring my burdens

To the foot of the cross

So no longer will I stumble

Or ever be lost

I now have security

I am an heir to the throne

I’ll never get lost

Because Heaven’s My Home

Freed From The Chains

You are the Truth
That sets men free
You are the Word
That was nailed to the tree

I was broken and flawed
All bound in chains
With scars thru my heart
I had nothing but pain

My eyes were soaked
With nothing but tears
My heart was crying out
I was shaking with fear

I was lost in the dark
Couldn’t find a way out
The voices in my head
Wanted to scream and shout

I was tied to my sin
While in captivity
Until I met that man
That was nailed to that tree

On a dead-end road
He knew I was lost
He told me right then
That’s why He died on the cross

He met me right there
Right where I was at
I was in the middle of sin
I knew I was trapped

He reached for my hand
To give me a hand up
He gave me living water
He said drink from this cup

He said walk this way
Go and sin no more
That was the day
That Christ knocked at my door

Nails Times Three

It was Christ on the cross

That tore the veil

He was the ransom for sin

That was sending me to hell

Nails times three

He was nailed to the tree

He came with a purpose

Then died at Calvary

It is a message with purpose

That will not tickle your ears

It gives sight to the blind

Oh, how I can now hear

He won’t leave you alone

He is drawing you near

His message has hope

For all that want to hear

He has called you out of darkness

So, you can walk in His light

He’ll give you His strength

To endure thru this fight

Our battles are won

When we steady the course

It’s our heart that He wants

But won’t take it by force

Will you join this here race

Will you endure to the end

Will you walk with the Lord

As He calls you His friend

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

My Old Friend

Hello darkness, my old friend

Your time is coming to an end

You were my friend when I was lost

When I seem to never count the cost

It was a time that seemed so fun

Though I was always on the run

My life was always full of stress

Full of fear I must confess

It seemed I was always on the go

Who my friends were I had to know

I met a man who died for me

He was on a cross at Calvary

With arms stretched wide He provided grace

He dried the tears that ran down my face

Then picked me up when I was down

He put me up on solid ground

Now I’m blessed in a whole new way

On this path I think I want to stay

Hello darkness my old friend

Your time is coming to an end
